Does My Chihuahua Need a DOG Tag?

Any chihuahua that is going to be outside should always wear a DOG tag (ID tag). In fact, even chihuahuas that are primarily indoors should wear a DOG tag incase they somehow find their way outside.

The bichon frise breed is quite old. Originally they used to belong only to kings and queens. However, eventually they became known for their abilty to learn tricks and for their excellent sense of balance. As a result, they gained a reputation for being excellent as circus dogs.

A DOG ID tag is not the same thing as a DOG license tag. A DOG license tag often has a code number to identify the chihuahua and information on whether the chihuahua has had its shots. A DOG license tag allows anyone that finds the chihuahua to contact the vet that the license came from, but, if it's after hours or a weekend the vet may be closed.

Pekingese dogs are quite small. This worked out well for their ancient masters, who were ancient Chinese royalty. These royal masters used to carry the peke dogs along in the sleeves of their royal robes.

A DOG ID tag, on the other hand, is a personal DOG tag that the owner can put important information on. This information generally includes the chihuahua's name, home address, phone number and occasionally things like allergies that the chihuahua has. This allows the average person on the street to contact the chihuahua's family quickly and easily any day of the week.

Dachshunds may be small and cute, but they are also the smallest hunting breed. They were bred to be low to the ground, which allows them to enter and maneuver through tunnels and chase prey easily.

It's also important to remember that a DOG ID tag is only as good as the collar it's attached to. Be sure that your chihuahua's collar is not too tight or too loose and that it is made of a material that you can easily attach the DOG ID tag to. After all, the tag will not do anyone any good if it falls off and gets lost.

The Broholmer is a breed that is recognized only in Denmark. It was thought extinct in the 1960's but, in December of 1974, a purebred Broholmer popped up in Finland. This dog was a male, and the owners hoped to find a female for him to mate with, but it never happened. While still recognized as a breed, an example has yet to appear again.

While it's not usually required that an owner put a personal ID tag on their chihuahua, the benefits of doing so are obvious.
