Do Those Invisible Fences Work with Chihuahuas?

Invisible electric fences can work with some chihuahuas. However, they are not a good substitute for an owner's supervision. There are several reasons for that.

Many people think that the kerry blue terrier is the national dog of Ireland. Actually, the Irish government never has given this designation to any breed. Michael Collins, one of Irelands most famous patriots, introduced legislation to elevate the Kerry Blue, or the Irish Blue Terrier as they were then called, to the national dog of Ireland. After his murder, the interest in the initiative was lost.

First of all, most invisible fences work because they detect a signal from a special collar on the chihuahua. If the collar falls off or the batteries in the collar die without the owner's knowledge then the chihuahua can easily escape.

The Japanese Chin, also known as the Japanese Spaniel, is considered to be one of the most cat-like of the dog breeds when it comes to attitude. It is alert, intelligent, and often independent. Also, like a cat, it uses its paws to wash its face.

Another problem is that some chihuahuas may see something outside the fence line that gets them overly excited, such as a small animal. The chihuahua might break through the invisible fence line when they are in an extremely excited state and then, after the feeling wears off, they might not want to come back because of the invisible fence.

Chow chows were originally bred as food, just like cows. However, in some cases, they were also used as hunters and helpers. They were also used to keep people warm under cold conditions by cuddling up to people with their soft, warm fur.

Believe it or not, the most common problem with electric invisible fences is not trying to keep the individual chihuahua in. The biggest problem is actually trying to keep other things out. Since the invisible fences work based on an electric impulse from one particular chihuahua's collar, they do nothing to keep other neighborhood DOGS out of the yard. For that matter, they also don't prevent wildlife, such as raccoons or coyotes, from coming into your chihuahua's environment either.

Some places don't allow standard fences, such as wood or chain link. In those instances, an invisible fence may be the only alternative. If your chihuahua is going to be supervised in the yard then an invisible fence may be fine. However, there is no substitute for a standard fence when it comes to keeping other animals out. If you can have a standard fence then you should have one. That will protect not only your chihuahua, but also the rest of the family.

Yorkshire terriers are very tenacious. In fact, A 12-pound Yorkshire Terrier named Oliver once defended an elderly woman from an 80-pound Akita. The woman escaped to safety and Oliver the yorkie survived with only nine stitches.
